Anthony Students Give Special Sendoff to Building Secretary

Students at Anthony Elementary had a surprise sendoff for their building secretary Pat Goff, who is retiring after 23 years with the district. Everyone in the school signed a giant card to wish her well in her retirement. Students in Shawna Davoren's fourth grade class surprised Pat with the card at the end of her last day on Tuesday.

Anthony Students Celebrate Kansas Day

Sunday marked the state of Kansas' 156th birthday. To celebrate, students at Anthony Elementary took part in several Kansas themed activities. Students in Melynda Hanson's fourth grade class went all out, some dressing in traditional Kansas settler attire. Her students also did a number of Kansas-themed activities including sewing sunflowers by solving math equations. Kindergarten students in Leah Wrath's class also got in on the Kansas Day fun by painting sunflowers.

Anthony Kindergarten Participates in Bingo for Books Event

Kindergarten students at Anthony Elementary recently participated in a Bingo for Books event. Kindergarten families were invited to come to the school to participate in the event where students had to identify letters and Kansas state symbols to fill their Bingo squares. Winners received books and other prizes. All students walked away with a book, even if they weren't a big winner.

Anthony Book Buddies Make Holiday Cards for Nursing Home Patients

First and fourth grade book buddies at Anthony Elementary teamed up for their monthly meeting on late start days this week. This time the pairs of students spent time creating holiday cards for patients in local nursing homes. Students colored the cards and wrote personalized messages for the patients.
