Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Anthony Families,

Though we are still feeling the cold weather, Spring is just around the corner.  Over the past month, we’ve had our 2nd Book Fair and Family Reading Night.  As well, our Spirit Week was a great success in January.  Also, I wanted to thank you again for your flexibility with our rescheduled 2nd Quarter Awards Assembly due to January’s district-wide weather related school cancellation.

As we finish February and move into March, we do want to let you know about some upcoming events at Anthony.  Most notably, please review your school calendar for information around Spring Break and also the change that Friday, March 17 will be No School due to Teacher Professional Development/Work Day.  Also, state assessments for grades 3-5 are starting in March.  Please see your child’s teacher or Mr. Kessler, Asst. Principal/Testing Coordinator, with any questions.  Lastly, our March PTO/Site Council meeting will be at Anthony on Thursday, March 16.  All community members and families are welcome to attend this monthly meeting.

Have a great rest of the month, and I look forward to seeing you at Anthony soon.

Anthony Students Celebrate Kansas Day

Sunday marked the state of Kansas' 156th birthday. To celebrate, students at Anthony Elementary took part in several Kansas themed activities. Students in Melynda Hanson's fourth grade class went all out, some dressing in traditional Kansas settler attire. Her students also did a number of Kansas-themed activities including sewing sunflowers by solving math equations. Kindergarten students in Leah Wrath's class also got in on the Kansas Day fun by painting sunflowers.
